FAQs
How long will it take to make my bespoke jewellery?
Depending on the complexity of the design, it can take around 2 – 6 weeks to complete.
If you have a specific short deadline, we can try to accommodate your request, a phone call or e-mail is generally the best way you for us to give you a bettter idea of the soonest a design can be completed.
How will I receive my piece of jewellery?
Collection can be organised from our London workshop or posted via Royal Mail’s special delivery service which has a maximum insurance option for upto £2500, items over this amount can be collected or you the client can arrange a courier to collect if so wished.
What happens if I am not happy with the final finished piece of jewellery?
This should be highly unlikely as we will work together on the design throughout the process (on bespoke pieces only)
You will be updated with the progress and will receive photographs of the piece being made in the workshop (if requested).
You are welcome to visit the workshop before the precious stones are set to ensure you are happy with the final piece and we can make any minimal changes such as finger size before the final process of setting the gems and the final polish.
For clients that live far from London, a video chat can be arranged to show the jewellery before it is sent off.
What happens if I buy a ring and it doesn't fit?
We offer free re-sizing on rings that we custom make, we can do this while you wait at the workshop so we can ensure it fits perfectly, usually this takes no longer then 20 minutes but if longer, our building has a cafe with wifi and a seating area to wait or work from.
We also offer and advise an annual maintenance service (free of charge) where we can check and clean the ring to ensure it looks a good as new.
I have seen some jewellery on your website, or someone else's shop/website but I want it to look slightly different. Can this be done?
Yes, we make all of the jewellery you see on this website and we can alter the design to your wish and request.
We regularly make jewellery from photos or ideas sent in from photos clients have seen online or Pinterest / Instagram etc, so feel free to send in your inspirations.
What if I don't know what ring size to order as a gift or engagement ring?
Don’t worry, it is very common and can easily be resolved.
If you have a ring the recipient wears, we can measure it if you are able to bring it to the personal consultation.
If not, we offer free re-sizing service once the ring has been given where we will alter the ring to ensure a perfect fit.
How long does it take to receive a quote for a bespoke piece of jewellery?
We require a 50% non-refundable deposit upon agreement of proceeding with making your bespoke piece of jewellery. The balance will be paid upon completion.
You can pay via bank transfer and all major credit/debit cards are accepted. There may be a fee for American Express payments.
I have seen a piece of jewellery in a shop or online elsewhere, are you able to make this for me?
Yes, we can create exactly what you wish, we ask you to provide a photograph and a rough idea of your budget.
Most often the price we quote will be cheaper than shops/well-known brands as there are fewer overheads in terms of staff/advertising and retail space.
Sometimes the price may be similar, but the quality will be far superior if comparing to a mass-produced piece from a high street jeweller or in many cases online shops.
Can I visit your workshop to discuss my design ideas?
Of course, we welcome this as it creates a better result.
We can talk you through the different precious stones and metals to suit your idea, draw up your designs in front of you and share further ideas. You are invited back to see your jewellery before we set the stones. This will ensure we are on track with your vision and that you are satisfied.
If you are unable to visit the workshop, we are happy to discuss over the phone or via video consultation and via email, too
Can you custom make bespoke items other than jewellery?
Can you remodel jewellery that I have already?
Can I have something engraved and how much does it cost?
How long have you been handmaking jewellery?
We have been handmaking jewellery for over 20 years. Daniel started at the age of 18, when he embarked on a 5-year apprenticeship under his father’s watchful eye.
His father has been in the jewellery industry for around 50 years and is a well-respected jeweller in Hatton Garden.
Where is your workshop and how do I find it?
Visits to the workshop are by appointment only.
Once we have agreed a time and date for your personal consultation, you can visit me at Unit 105, The Record Hall (First floor), 16-16A Baldwin’s Gardens, London, EC1N 7RJ. Please visit the Contact page for further details on how to find us. Appointments can be made from 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
How do I look after my jewellery?
The best way to clean items like gem set rings, is with an old toothbrush and some mild detergent in warm water, then gently scrubbing from the underneath of the ring as this is where the dirt collects.
We offer a free of charge annual maintenance service for bespoke pieces to ensure that jewellery looks good and fits your finger perfectly.
This helps avoid losing the ring if loose on the finger, or avoiding loss of gemstones if they have started to work loose by daily use.
Do you offer a Warranty?
Yes, all DG Bespoke Jewellery products are covered by a limited lifetime guarantee against workmanship defect. However, we do not cover neglect or damage from excessive activities while wearing the jewellery, such as using weights or where metal is coming into contact with the jewellery.
DG Bespoke Jewellery is not responsible for loss of stones if the prongs are damaged or the ring has been damaged due to neglect.
If clients do not bring bespoke pieces up for yearly check ups, we are not responsible for loss of gemstones, specific jewellery insurance is for this scenario.
If care is taken, the piece is guaranteed to last many years due to the craftsmanship and expertise.
The loss/ theft or damage of a centre stone is not covered under warranty and should be covered under a specific jewellery insurance policy/company.
We work closely with a well respected Insurance company called TH March, on completion of your bespoke piece of jewellery, a unique code will be given to you, this will register the piece with the insurer (should you decide to use them) and a worldwide insurance policy will be in place.
If you should ever suffer a loss, damage or theft, the unique code will ensure you can claim with no excess and we will replace your jewellery with an exact replica.
Many other insurers do not offer this service and we highly recommend this service.
What is your exchange policy?
We do not offer returns on any custom jewellery, personalised jewellery, remodelled jewellery or special orders. These orders have been made specifically to your designs, your tastes, and your idea of a particular ring.
We offer exchanges on our ready-to-ship items of jewellery. Please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your item, if you wish to exchange it.
Due to the handmade nature of each piece, we do not currently accept any returns.
All rings are subject to a resizing fee and can’t be exchanged for another size. For your protection, please pack your exchange in the original box, ship your order with an insured courier and retain your receipt with the tracking number.
We strongly reccomend Royal Mail with maximum insurance (upto 5K) with the registered postage option.
DG Bespoke Jewellery is not responsible for items damaged or lost in transit. Please include a detailed note with your name, email address and invoice number on your authorisation form. Once your exchange is processed, your new piece will be shipped back out to you.
We cannot refund shipping charges on exchange items.
